How to Make Bold Text on LinkedIn
LinkedIn doesn't offer bold or italic in the post composer. The workaround is Unicode: it includes letters that look bold or italic, and LinkedIn treats them as ordinary text. This generator swaps your letters for those look-alikes, so you can paste the result straight into a post or comment.
- Type or paste your post in the editor.
- Select the words you want to emphasize and click Bold (or Ctrl/Cmd + B).
- Check the feed preview, especially the first lines above the fold.
- Click Copy post and paste it into LinkedIn.
Use it sparingly. Screen readers may read styled characters letter by letter, and text in these styles isn't matched by search. Keep it to a few key phrases, and avoid it in your name, headline or other fields people search for.
Tips for Formatting LinkedIn Posts
Bold the hook, not the whole post
Only the first lines show before "see more", so make them count. A few emphasized phrases read better than a wall of bold.
Use italics for quotes and asides
Italic works well for a customer quote or a short aside without competing with your bold lines.
Use bullets and short lines
Line breaks and bullets (•, →, ✓) make a post scannable on mobile. Use the quick-insert buttons.
Schedule for when your audience is online

How do I make text bold on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn has no bold button in posts. Type your text here, select the words you want to emphasize, click Bold, then copy and paste the result into your LinkedIn post. The bold look comes from Unicode characters, not from LinkedIn formatting.
Can I make only part of a post bold?
Yes. Select the words or lines first and the style applies only to that selection. With nothing selected, a style button formats the whole post.
Is it safe to use on LinkedIn?
These are ordinary Unicode characters, so LinkedIn accepts them as text in posts and comments. Use them sparingly: some screen readers read them letter by letter and they are not matched by search.
Will it work on mobile?
Yes. Copy the text and paste it into the LinkedIn app. Most modern phones display these characters, though an older device or font may show boxes for rarely used styles.
Why are some letters not bold?
Unicode only has bold and italic versions of the basic Latin letters A to Z and digits. Accented letters are converted with a combining accent, but letters such as ł, ß, ø and non-Latin scripts stay plain.
Can I use it in my LinkedIn headline or name?
It usually pastes fine, but styled text is not matched by search, so people may not find you by those words. Keep headlines and names in plain text.
Does it work on other platforms?
Unicode text works anywhere plain text is accepted, such as X, Facebook, Instagram bios and Threads, though each platform may display some styles differently.
